A new 200 Club year

As the New Year approaches, it reminds us that our 200 Club is nearly 2 years old. Time has really flown, and our achievements are many.

We have dished out over £15,000 in prize money to all our lucky winners. The projects in which we have invested have really enhanced Sale Golf Club for its members and visitors alike: we have the beautiful ornamental beds that provide us with all-year round colour, new practice nets, stylish patio furniture, an enhanced shoe cleaning facility and a smart new directional sign at the entrance to the Course.

Thank you to all the 200 Club members for your fantastic support and your ideas. Our 200 Club fund has a very healthy balance so we will continue to enhance and develop Sale Golf Club with you. It is YOUR 200 Club so keep letting us know what you would like to see us investing in.

Now a new year means that 2011 payments are due !! If you pay by cash or cheque we will be in contact with you very shortly to sort out your renewal. Michael & Judith Stanistreet are in charge of renewals this year so you can expect a friendly phone call from them. For those who pay by Standing Order, don't worry, there is nothing for you to do.

Have a very Happy Christmas.

Our November Draw took place on friday 26th November. It was, again, the ladies who were the main recipients of the big cash prizes this month. In October, there was a ladies clean sweep with Betty Aldcroft, Annette Pilling and June Cutler taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively. This month our Lady President, Maureen Brandwood, bagged a delicious 1st prize cheque of £637.00. Second out was Maureen Howie. She won a cheque for £170.00. Last, but by no means least, was John Parkinson who collected £43.00.
The December Draw will take place on New Years Eve. In addition to the usual fantastic monthly prizes, we will be drawing the BIG ONE - a cheque for a massive £850.00.

Congratulations to all the winners and we look forward to seeing you on 31st December.

Saturday, 4 September 2010

Our August winners of the 200 Club pocketed a cool £840.00 between them.

Ist Prize was won by the mighty David Carlile. He won a mighty £630.00.
The 2nd Prize was won by 200 Club pundit, Richard Humfress. He won £163.00 in his first month of being a member of the Draw. How's that for luck !!
The 3rd Prize of £42.00 was snatched by Peter & Vicenta Gleave - no strangers to winning 200 Club money.
Congratulations to all of the winners.

Just a quick update on where we are with our latest project proposal. Thank you to all of you who have voted. Thank you also for your ideas and feedack. We really do appreciate all of your input. It is by working together as a team that we achieve the very best results for Sale Golf Club. The vast majority of 200 Club members voted "Yes" to the Finger Post Sign in the car park to provide directions to members and visitors, so we are now making arrangements to bring this project to fruition.
If you have any proposals that you would like recommend to the 200 Club team, we would like to hear from you. The purpose of the 200 Club, apart from the great money prizes we dish out every month, is to raise money for the Club which support projects that enhance Sale Golf Club for members and visitors alike. So do keep your great ideas coming in. Thank you.

The July draw took place on Friday 30th. The 200 Clubbers were gathered, the bar was full of golfers - some partaking of their post game refreshments, others preparing for their Saturday competition by relaxing with a drink. Rick, the chef, had cooked up some lovely food. The Golf Club staff busily keeping everyone happy. So the stage was set.

Mr Colin Lawton, President, was guest of honour and he was responsible for drawing the lucky numbers from the barrel.

The winner of the 1st Prize was Karen Lyness. She won a cheque for £622.00.

There was a deafening shriek when the 2nd lucky number number was drawn. The shriek belonged to Judith Stanistreet. The lucky number belonged to Judith and her husband Mike. They won a cheque for £166.00. She said " I knew it was our number straight away. It's our house number ! "

There's a tip.....if you want a lucky number in the draw, pick your house number. We still have some numbers available. Please see the 200 Club display in the entrance to the Clubhouse.

3rd Prize was won by Ann Woods. She won a cheque for £42.00

Congratulations to all of the winners.

The next draw will take place on Friday 27th August at 8.00pm. Everyone is welcome.

The lucky winner of the BIG ONE, a cheque for £805.00, was Barbara Henstock.

Rick Sclater, our very own Chef extraordinaire, won the £615.00 1st prize.

David Moores was thrilled with his 2nd prize of £164.00,

May 200 club draw

Our May Draw took place on Friday 28th and a good crowd gathered. There are always two things that everyone wants on 200 Club Draw night - Rick's Fish & Chips and, of course, the winning cheques!!
Lady Captain, Barbara Wetton, was guest of honour and she did the honours by customarily shaking the barrel and drawing out the winning numbers.

After her exersions she enjoyed her fish and chips.

It's always great when a winner is in attendance at the draw. It really adds to the occasion. Hilary Tarleton's face lit up when her number came out of the barrel.

Hilary receives her cheque from Lady Captain.

1st Prize, a cheque for £615.00, was won by Dave Coote.
2nd Prize, a cheque for £164.00, was won by Hilary Tarleton.
3rd Prize, a cheque for £41.00, was won by Peter Broadbent.

The 1st prize winner David Coote,(below) not with his cheque, but with the ipad which he rushed out to buy with his winnings!! (boys and their toys)

Next month is THE BIG ONE.

In addition to the the 3 monthly prizes, there is the 6 monthly prize which will be a cheque for around £800.00. It would be great to see you all at the Clubhouse.
Here's an interesting fact: both the last 2 BIG ONE winners have been in attendance at the 6 monthly draw. Can YOU afford NOT to be there ?

NEXT DRAW is Saturday 26th JUNE 2010 at the Captain's BBQ.

Get your tickets from behind the bar!

200 Club April Draw

The April draw took place on April 30th. (always the last Friday of the month)
The winning number pulled out of the barrell by The Captain was Ian and Mary Bullough.
They received the customary phone call from Hilary to inform them of their luck. They were in Portugal at the time!! We therefore don't have a photo yet.
All members of the 200 club should get excited if they get a phone call at about 8.30pm on the last Friday of the month!
Second prize was won by Pat Long and third was Shirley Lawton, the President's wife.

Past winners gallery

Below are a couple of previous winners

Pat Hackett who was Lady President at the time. She was nearly always there on the night to receive her cheque. She has won twice but never the big one.

Frank Hilson was a big winner and having received the call fron Hilary he came down to the club and bought everyone a drink! Thank you Frank, it was a good night!

Start of the 200 club blog

Welcome to our brand spanking new 200 club Blog!! We are really thrilled with this development and hope you are too. Our aim is to keep you fully informed of all the 200 club news and progress. We will continue to post important information on the 200 club Board in the clubhouse, for those people without internet access. We will continue to use email.

Well, first of all, we should introduce the “Royal We”, the 200 club team.

Hilary Tarleton and Julie Matthews

The Captain Andy McLaren

and

Peter Middleton

We have the invaluable help and support of the dynamic Stanistreet duo,

Michael and Judith.

As you know, the aim of the 200 club, apart from delivering big money prizes every month to 3 lucky winners, is to enhance and develop Sale Golf Club through investment in specific and tangible projects.

It is hard to believe we are already in our 16th month. Time has really flown.

In that time we have given over £12,000 in prize money. It’s one of the great highlights when we ring the lucky winners to tell them their number has been drawn from the barrel.
Here is just a few of the happy, smiling faces of the winners.
The first big win

Vicenta Gleave

John and Mel Parkinson
Pat Hannah

Chris Harris

Two times winner
John Sallabank

The projects that the 200 club has funded have really made a difference to Sale Golf Club.

The ornamental beds around the clubhouse made an instant impact last year and these will flourish in the years ahead and give us a constant source of pleasure.

The new 3 bay practise nets opened in February. The Captain and Lady Captain (2009) conducted the official opening ceremony by cutting the red ribbon and driving the first balls into the nets.

This was very quickly followed by the development of the new shoe cleaning facility alongside the 18th green.
Derek Chadwick

after his hard work

A point worth mentioning here is that ALL of the labour on the above 3 projects has been carried out in-house. A very big THANK YOU to Chris Hulme, and all the Greens team, and to Derek Chadwick and his big strong men.
